This large adventure golf course in Nottingham, England is inspired by Jurassic Park and combines huge dinosaurs with water features and 18 challenging golf holes to play. ‘Crazy Golf’, as they call it in the UK, has come a long way from the concrete seaside courses of yesteryear and this is a great example of just how good it can be.

Each of the holes features a different dinosaur – some represented in model form, others just described on the sign boards. There were some clever designs with the holes here, some using the tunnels inside the fake rock formations. Watch out for hole 17 which has a tiny bridge over a steam that you need to get your ball across before it disappears inside a pipe running right through the rocks. For the less adventurous, you can instead just head down the green to the hole, but where’s the fun in that! On another hole there’s a jump over a fast-moving stream and on several others there are dinosaur bones all over the place to avoid.

There’s a hole with a large loop on a floating platform and we liked the holes which have several tubes to choose to get your ball down, some having better outcomes than others. In the background throughout your golfing experience is the soundtrack of Jurassic Park to help create the atmosphere. We visited on a sunny morning and there were queues to get around, but entry to the course is timed so the delays never lasted long.

Jurassic Cove Adventure Golf is open every day in the summer months and at weekends and school holidays in the colder months.
